With the popularity of Dell’s award-winning XPS 13 Ultrabook, an expansion of their line of XPS laptops couldn’t have come at a better time. Not only have they introduced a model with the longest battery life of any Ultrabook; Dell has also addressed the needs of consumers who need a powerful laptop with stellar graphics and multimedia performance.

Dell’s XPS 14 Ultrabook and XPS 15 laptop share several similarities. Both are powered by Intel’s third generation CPU (aka Ivy Bridge), use Intel Rapid Start, Smart Response and Smart Connect technologies. In addition, both devices sport hardened Corning Gorilla Glass displays. Where they begin to diverge is their primary function.

With up to eleven hours of laptop battery life and integrated mobile broadband, the XPS 14 has the serious on-the-go user in mind. With a machined aluminum body that’s less than an inch thick and a silicone base which doesn’t radiate heat, the XPS 14 boots up to 33% faster than a standard hard drive due to a solid-state drive (SSD). Thanks to Intel Rapid Start Technology, you get back into the grove in less than 2 seconds when in sleep mode. Other features include vibrant 14-inch 400 nit HD+ edge-to-edge display, a backlit keyboard and optional NVIDIA graphics. With up to 8GB of memory, a solid state drive with a 500GB hard drive and 32GB mSATA card, having enough storage space shouldn’t be an issue.

With NVIDIA graphics as a standard feature and an optional integrated Blu-ray disc drive, the XPS 15 is designed to meet the needs of users who demand superior visual and entertainment features in their laptop. Also possessing many of the desirable physical features of the Dell XPS 14 such as being lightweight and boasting of an edge-to-edge display; the XPS 15 can also store up 1TB of multimedia data without sacrificing speed and power thanks to a solid state drive with a 32GB or 128GB mSATA card option.
